Cracked Tooth Syndrome
Clinical Overview
Reviewed by: Dr. Kristen Dority
A common problem, cracked tooth syndrome or CTS, refers to hair line fractures that develop in teeth. The tiny fractures arise from a number of stresses to tooth structures. The habit of chewing hard objects such as nuts, ice, and popcorn kernels can cause CTS. Patients with large filings in their teeth are also susceptible, as are those who clench or grind their teeth or those who have trauma to their lower jaw.
