[p]I agree, warm salt water really helps with cleaning the holes, as it does take time for those holes to be filled. I had my four wisdom teeth extracted, most of my problems were with the lower teeth rather than the upper ones.[/p]

Toothpicks can cause much damage and infection. My specialist instructed me to use peroxide rinses or warm salt water. Peroxide really cleans and the warm salt water soothes.

I had my wisdom teeth removed a couple weeks ago, and I still have small holes in the back of my mouth. I always rinse after eating, but I've been unable to remove a small bit of food that has been stuck in one of the holes for a few days. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to get it out?

Yes it is worth it. As long as the result is that you have whiter teeth.
